About brands at MacCormaics

Bunnahabhain - The Bunnahabhain distillery lies on the North-Eastern coast of Islay. Built in 1881 its name comes from the Gaelic, Bunnahabhain (Bu-na-ha-venn), meaning 'mouth of the river', a reference to the Margadale, the river from whose clear spring waters the whiskey is distilled. These water flow through sandstone rocks rather than peat beds. A very lightly peated malted barley is then used for the distillation before ageing in the cask for 12 years. Bunnahabhain is the least like an Islay Malt - very little peat influences but a distinctive oiliness and whiff of sea air.

Ledaig (LED-CHIG) - hails from the Tobermory Distillery on the Island of Mull. Established in 1798, Tobermory is the only distillery on Mull and one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. It produces two different single malts; the fruity, unpeated Tobermory and the more robust and smoky Ledaig. In 2015, Ledaig 10 Year Old was awarded the best Island single malt from the World Whiskies Award.

Deanston - A highland malt, situated close to the town of Doune, southwest of Perth. The buildings were once a cotton mill, driven by the waters of the River Teith. In 1966, it was converted into a distillery. Deans ton's style is one of purity emanating from the river on whose banks the distillery lies. It uses unpeated malts from Angus, East, Lothian and Moray, to produce a light, nutty, malty and restorative style of whiskey.

Mars Japanese Whisky - In 1985 the Shinshu distillery was opened in the Japanese Alps in Nagano not far from Tokyo. During winter, the temperature habitually drops below minus 15. The humidity during the summer is moderate and the water is of high quality, making the area an ideal location for whisky production. The pot stills, were designed by Kiichiro Iwai, based upon the records left by Masataka Taketsuru - Nikka's founder - and, in fact, closely resemble the straight-head stills used at the Yoichi Distillery. The single malt whisky named Komagatake after one of the many nearby mountains, the other range is called Mars which is a blended malt.
